Why is Todd Smith Famous?
American vocalist James Todd Smith is a founding member of Selah, a group that plays contemporary Christian music. Since the group’s formation in 1997, he has remained a founder member.
Smith was raised in a house built by his grandparents, who had been missionaries to the continent since the 1930s, as the son of missionaries in Zaire, Africa. Prior to relocating to Zaire, his grandfather practiced dentistry in the United States.
Originally from Africa, Smith’s father later settled in Detroit, Michigan. Smith’s grandparents both passed away in Africa. When Smith was five years old, his family’s home burned to the ground. His father felt called to the African mission field following the fire.
Smith’s father relocated to Africa together with himself, his mother and three siblings from Detroit, Michigan. They stayed there for the following eight years. Smith has stated that he never questioned the teachings of his Bible.
Smith attributes his musical career to his childhood as a missionary. He claimed that I’ve been singing in front of people since I was three. Missionaries serve as my parents. We had to go to each church that had sponsored us when we returned to the US. That served as a good practice area.

One more daughter, Audrey was delivered to them in April 2008, but she passed just a few hours later from cardiac problems. In her post, Angie shared this sad story with her fans. She wrote:
“This is my daughter Audrey. In case you don’t know this part of my story, I want to introduce you to the baby who changed our lives forever. We knew halfway through the pregnancy that she wouldn’t survive outside of my body, but we chose to carry her as long as possible. She lived for 2 1/2 hours and would be 12 years old if she was still with us.”
