Why Morning Joe didn’t air Monday; when will it return?

Cable news network MSNBC kept its popular morning show off the air Monday to focus instead on coverage of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.

The show, “Morning Joe” is said to return Tuesday, but the sudden absence of Joe Scarborough from screens this morning raised a few eyebrows.

What happened to Morning Joe?

Joe Scarborough, a former Republican congressman, hosts “Morning Joe” weekdays from 6 to 10 a.m.

The show typically features guests from the news and political realm discussing latest issues. “Morning Joe” was kept off the air Monday partly over concerns a guest might make an impertinent statement, CNN is reporting.

Saturday, a gunman attempted to assassinate Donald Trump while he spoke at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The suspect was shot dead by Secret Service counter snipers, an attendee was killed by the gunman, two other people were shot and Donald Trump was struck by a bullet.

The assassination attempt has brought attention to the volatile — and sometimes vitriolic — nature of politics and amplified calls for everyone to tone down incendiary rhetoric.

President Joe Biden, Trump’s opponent in the November White House election, told the country in a Sunday night address that political violence has no place in American politics.
