Taylor Swift’s close celeb pal told a white lie to Adam Sandler — for a good cause.

Swift’s longtime producer, Jack Antonoff, fudged the truth in order to land his wife, Margaret Qualley, a role in Sandler’s upcoming film, Happy Gilmore 2.

Qualley, 29, appeared as a guest on the Tuesday, September 24 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and told the late-night host how her role in the movie came to be.

The Emmy-nominated actress is a huge fan of the original Happy Gilmore a cult classic comedy from the ’90s that follows Happy, a former hockey player turned golf champion, played by Sandler.

“It’s my favorite movie. And I adore Adam Sandler. I think he’s the greatest of all time,” Qualley gushed. The Maid actress said when she found out Sandler was making a sequel, she jumped at the chance to be a part of it.

“I emailed my agents right away, and I said, anything it takes. No part is too small… I got to be a part of this,” Qualley recounted.

Fallon, 50, then pulled out a text chain between Antonoff, 40, and Sandler, 58.

“Jacko. It’s Sandler. Does your wife golf at all?” the Grown Ups star asked. “Yeah, she’s actually good!” Antonoff replied — the white lie, Qualley revealed. Sandler, for his part, was seemingly shocked as he responded, “No way.”

Still, Antonoff needed more clarity and asked, “Are we talking gilmore or charity golf tournament?” Sandler then clarified it was for Gilmore and told the Bleachers singer he had a part in mind for Qualley. “Might bug her for a couple of days funny thing. She’d be awesome,” Sandler texted.

Qualley was thrilled with her hubby’s stroke of genius in pretending she was good at golf. “What a good husband. I can’t golf,” The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star admitted. “He lied for the sake of the family.”

She further confessed to Fallon that her golf experience was seriously not what Antonoff made it out to be. “I never golfed a day in my life. I’m terrible, actually,” Qualley remarked.

While Antonoff’s small lie may not have been enough to land his wife a starring role, Qualley noted that she was grateful to have any part in the production.

“It was the best thing that ever happened to me,” she quipped. “It’s a tiny part. I’m essentially deep background, but I can die happy now!”

As fans know, Qualley isn’t the only Swift-adjacent star to snag a part in the upcoming film. The pop star’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, also recently revealed he’ll also be a part of the movie.
