STAMFORD — The Kaats Cradle Winter Bash will feature a night of comedy, music, food and drinks at the Mutual Aid Society on Sunday, Dec. 3.
According to a media release, the doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show.
The event will feature the premiere of new work from the Gimlick Comedy Experience, featuring local Marisa Caruso and her collaborators Irene Rising and Kate Armstrong.
Live music will follow from theatrical composer Mikey Rose, who just released his first album Get Lost Pt. 1: Last Summer, while incubated in Stamford.
Proceeds will support the Summer 2024 program and the event will serve as an opportunity for ideas to be shared about the upcoming year of work, reflect on the past summer’s inaugural season, and celebrate the talents of a growing community in a festive wintery atmosphere.
Kaats Cradle is described as a residency and performance series of free and innovative performances in the Western Catskills that supports emerging artists in theater, dance, film, music and interdisciplinary performing arts.
In collaboration with the Mutual Aid Society, a cooperatively-sustained artist retreat in Stamford, Kaats Cradle provides the conditions for theater artists, playwrights, actors, ensembles, dancers, choreographers and filmmakers from all over New York state to stay for one week to develop a free public performance for the community in Stamford, ending with an artist-led community talk-back.
Kaats Cradle has been supported with a grant from the Roxbury Arts Group, and aims to continue and expand its offerings in the future.
The Mutual Aid Society is at 1863 County Road 30 in Stamford, It is recommended that “Mutual Aid Society” be entered into Google Maps rather than directly using the physical address because occasionally GPS sends people to a neighboring house.
