Cosplayers descend on Long Beach for annual Animé Los Angeles convention – Press Telegram

Hundreds of fans have descended upon the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center for the 19th iteration of Animé Los Angeles — a four-day event aimed at celebrating the Japanese artform.

Anime, a style of animation originally from Japan influenced by the drawing style from Japanese comics, or manga, is known for its devoted fan base.

Those fans were out in full force at the Convention Center for the first day of Animé Los Angeles on Thursday, Jan. 4 to revel in the event’s live entertainment, fashion show, industry panels — and of course, to partake in a little cosplaying.

The Animé Los Angeles festivities, meanwhile, will continue until Sunday, Jan. 7.
