Hip-hop fans, mark your calendars: On Sunday, Dec. 10, CBS will air A Grammy Salute to 50 Years of Hip-Hop, a live concert special featuring some of the genre’s most influential and iconic artists. The two-hour event will celebrate the history and impact of hip-hop culture around the world, as well as honor the 50th anniversary of the genre’s birth in the Bronx, New York City.
The star-studded lineup includes legends like LL COOL J, Queen Latifah, Common, De La Soul, Questlove, Rakim, and many more. The show will also feature performances from newer generations of hip-hop artists, such as 2 Chainz, T.I., Gunna, Latto, E-40, and others. More performers will be announced in the coming weeks.
Jesse Collins, a producer of various award shows and specials like the Super Bowl LV Halftime Show, the BET Awards, and the Grammy Awards, will direct the upcoming concert. Questlove, the co-founder of The Roots and musical director of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, will serve as the concert’s musical director.
The concert is scheduled for Wednesday, November 8, at the YouTube Theater in Hollywood Park, Inglewood, California. Tickets are currently available for purchase on Ticketmaster.com. The concert will be broadcast on CBS and streamed live and on-demand on Paramount+ on Sunday, December 10th, from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
